Nestled in the green mountains of Northfield Vermont I work at my home to create exciting new forms of glass jewelry. I grew up in Vermont surrounded by both classic and innovative artists which led me to pursue my own talents with color and design.
The metallic glass that I use in the jewelry is called Dichroic Glass meaning “of two colors”. This incredible glass will transmit one color while reflecting another. The two colors are generally on opposite ends of the color spectrum such as red/green.
I create the fused glass in a kiln and fire the pieces to temperatures of around 1450 degrees. Each piece is made of many layers of brilliant color and may be fired up to four times to create the desired effect. The glass is then cooled and annealed over many hours to stabilize the piece and prevent any stresses within the finished jewelry.
